Advice for new art students at UCLan

Today I’m off to the University of Central Lancashire to give a talk to the first year BA (Hons) Fine Art students. As a UCLan alumni, I was asked if I would share my experiences of studying fine art during an introductory session for the new cohort of creative students and I lept at the chance.

I hope to encourage them to make the most of their time studying by attending as many exhibition as possible, recording their work properly, meeting other artists, taking up opportunities offered to boost their portfolio and, most importantly, developing their own network of creative professionals because often it’s not what you know, but who you know!
