Over the next 10 weeks I will be trying out all sorts of creative and festive activities on the run-up to Christmas. I will be chatting with Jon Wright on BBC Radio Suffolk every Friday evening all about these challenges :)
In episode 1 we make a green tomato chutney from leftover unripe fruit from my garden.
Follow this easy step-by-step instructional video to make a delicious chutney that will fill your home with festive aromas and be something that you can enjoy all the way through the festive season :)
Ingredients:
2.5kg Green Tomatoes
500g Onions
500g Apples
500g Sugar
500g Sultanas
750ml Malt vinegar
1tbsp Garlic paste, Ginger paste, Cinnamon and Mixed Spice
Preparation time: 30-45mins. Cooking time: 2hours
You can store chutneys for months in a cool, dark cupboard. It can be enjoyed in a sandwich, as part of a cheeseboard and you can add a few scoops into any stew or bolognese to add depth of flavour.
